Important Dates for the Spring 24 Grassroots REC/SFL Program (Dates approximate/Subject to change)

Jan 2- Spring 2024 Grassroots/REC program registration opens

March 1- Grassroots/REC program early registration ends. Deadline to registrer for SFL teams. 

March 2- Late registration begins with $100 late fee.

March 15- Last Day to register for programs with open roster spots.

Third week of March- Email with confirmation and specifics regarding times and locations of practice sessions. The schedule for SFL teams should be available around this date.

The week of April 1- First day of practices for REC Academy and SFL teams. 

Friday, April 5- First day of Free Play for the Micro and REC Academy.

Saturday, April 6- First FUN session for the Eaglet Academy; first REC Jamboree for the Micro and REC Academies. First SFL games.

Friday, May 10- Last day of Friday Free Play

Saturday, May 18- Last day and closing ceremonies for Eaglets, Micro and REC Academies. 

Monday, May 20- Scheduled make-up day for REC Academy

Grassroots/REC Program Info- Spring 24 (Outdoor)

Eaglet Academy U4 Co-ed (born between January 1, 2020-April 1, 2021). Players must be 3 years old prior to the start of the season.

Course Description: The Grassroots/Eaglet Academy is our introductory course for young players beginning their soccer journey. An experienced instructor will lead the group and introduce the basic ABC's- agility, balance, and coordination skills in seven, fun-focused, half hour sessions. Players will be introduced to their first relationship with the ball and begin discovering the magical game of soccer. The Eaglet Academy typically meets on Saturday mornings starting April 6. 

Included:

  • Seven (7) sessions (1/2 hour in duration) on Saturdays starting 4/6*;
  • End of the season-closing ceremonies and awards;
  • Access to the club's TeamSnap account for scheduling and notifications. 
  • Program t-shirt
  • Session dates* (Saturday mornings): 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18 (closing ceremonies).
  • Make-up date: June 1*
  • Cost: $105

Not included: Fairfax County Field User Fees: in-county ($8.00/player); out-of-county ($30.00/player), VYSA Fee $10 (if not paid in the Fall 23 season), soccer ball- $20 (players take home at closing ceremonies on the last day), extra FC Dulles practice shirts ($15/ea), and player's equipment including soccer cleats (highly recommended), shin guards (not needed for Eaglets), and water bottle.

Micro Academy U5-U6 Boys & Girls (Born between Jan. 1, 2018-Dec. 31, 2019)

Course Description: The Grassroots/Micro-Academy is for boys and girls of all skill levels. The focus for players in this age group is on playing small-sided games in a fun, social environment learning basic movement skills, directional play, elementary attacking and defensive principles of play, basic dribbling and passing skills and first touch/ball control skills. The program utilizes the Play/Practice/Play format in alignment with the US Youth Soccer's Grassroots and FC Dulles curriculum. Coaches run small-sided games, 3 v 3 or 4 v 4, in forty-five minute sessions in our Free Play sessions on Friday, and our REC Jamboree Sessions on Saturdays. Over the course of the season, advanced players are identified as prospective players and invited to our travel program starting in the Fall 2024 season

  • 6 weeks of Friday Free Play starting 4/5*;
  • End of the season-closing ceremonies and awards;

REC Academy U7-U9 Boys & Girls (born 2015-2017):

Course Description: The Grassroots/REC Academy is for boys and girls of all skill levels. Players are introduced to the FC Dulles REC Curriculum with an emphasis dribbling, passing and receiving, and shooting/finishing skills. Basic tactical phases of attacking and defending are introduced through small-sided games in our Play-Practice-Play format. Players will meet 3x/week over seven weeks for a training session on Monday nights, a free play session on Friday nights, and an in-house competition (REC Jamboree) on Saturdays in our REC Jamboree. It is during these sessions that we begin to ID players to play on future FC Dulles travel teams.

Included:

  • 7 weeks Saturday Rec. Jamboree games starts 4/6*;
  • 7 weeks of practice* (1x/week) starts 4/1;
  • 6 weeks of Friday Free Play* starts 4/5);
  • End of the season-closing ceremonies and awards;

SFL- Suburban Friendship League (soon to be NCSL-REC) 

Description: Players in our SFL (NCSL-REC) age groups (U10-U19) play competitive games with referees against other clubs in the area. Players are grouped into teams with a coach whose primary responsibility is to create a fun, social environment to learn the game of soccer. Players in the SFL (NCSL-REC) age groups are developed in accordance with the FC Dulles Grassroots/REC Curriculum in conjunction with US Youth Soccer's Play/Practice/Play format. SFL (NCSL-REC) teams will have practices 2x/week with an emphasis in the younger age groups on technical skill development (dribbling, passing & receiving, and shooting, individual defending and attacking, and in the older groups more of an emphasis on team tactical phases i.e. attacking, defending, transitional play). SFL (NCSL-REC) teams play 8 games on Saturdays against clubs local to Northern Virginia.

*Weather permitting and the fields are open and playable. Schedule subject to change depending on # of registrants and coach and field availability. Due to time constraints, there are no make-up sessions. Canceled SFL games may be re-scheduled depending on coach and field availability.

**Uniform kits to be distributed at the first practice sessions. Please note: Players who purchased the royal blue FC Dulles Grassroots/REC uniform kit in a prior season are not required to purchase a new uniform kit unless needed. For returning SFL players, if using a uniform from a previous season please input that number on the player form during registration. Otherwise, jersey #s will be assigned. 

REC Uniform 2022-24

Uniforms are required for the Grassroots Micro Academy, the REC Academy, and SFL programs. Eaglet Academy participants do not purchase uniforms- they receive a program t-shirt included with the registration fee. Please note: if you purchased the uniform below in a prior season, you do not need to purchase again unless needed. For SFL players not purchasing a new uniform for the Spring 24 season, please input your current jersey # in the player form during registration. All new SFL uniform purchases will be assigned a jersey #.

FC Dulles Fall 2022 REC Program Open For Registration!

Our curriculum is based on national guidelines and designed to instill a lifetime of love & passion for the beautiful game of soccer.

Coaches

Coaches:

FC Dulles believes volunteer USSF licensed coaches are an integral part of our rec. soccer program. FC Dulles provides educational opportunities through VYSA's Coaching Education Department and guidance for volunteer coaches to actively participate in our rec. program. Recreation Coaches receive a coaching polo for games and a practice t-shirt for training sessions. Upon successful completion of the season tuition fees for parents of players enrolled in our REC program will be refunded.
